Part 4 - How Much Weight Can I Lose?
- All diet delivery services leave you with a calorie deficit whether you exercise or not so you will lose weight.
- Most services will produce weight loss of
around 1 to 3 lbs per week. Some offer meal replacement foods with very few calories, expect weight
loss of around 2 to 5 lbs per week.
- The best service is one that you can stick with. The plan is no good if you
are left so hungry you add other foods and gain weight.
Current recommendations for calorie intake
per day is 2,000 for a woman and 2,200 for a man to maintain
weight. So with diet food delivery services containing between 800 to 1,500 calories you will lose weight with
any you choose. This means you will lose weight even if you don't exercise. How
much weight will depend on your size to begin with. If you are
very overweight and your body is used to getting 4,000+ calories
per day, which is possible, with a diet delivery service you will lose many
pounds to begin with. If you weigh 250lbs+ then expect rapid
weight loss on just about any service.
The services which are meal replacement diets where calorie intake
is 800 to 1,000 then expect weight loss of around 20lbs per month or
2 to 5 lbs per week. Services like this are Medifast and Nutrisystem.
Most other services are full meals and sometimes snacks and they are proportioned so you consume fewer
calories per day even with the included snacks. They contain between
1,200 and 1,500 calories per day with weight loss of around 1 to
3 lbs per week. There are also some services that have low carb options. These are sometimes better as they have fewer calories and lower carbohydrates so you lose weight in 2 ways.
The best weight loss service is one that you can
stick with. It's no point having 800 to 1,000 calories if after the 4th or 5th day or week you go back to eating the amount you were before or adding other foods because you are so hungry. The plan that has you losing weight with tasty food that you enjoy eating and don't feel hungry afterwards will be your best choice. So any plan will work if you can stick to it as they all produce calorie deficits for anyone who uses them, man or woman, young or old.
